Course Title: Leveling Survey
Course Code: SURV/LS/102
Course Description:
Leveling Survey is a foundational course in land surveying that equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to measure height differences between points on the Earth's surface. The course emphasizes the principles, methods, and instruments used in leveling to determine elevations and establish benchmarks in engineering and construction projects.
Learners will study various types of leveling, including differential leveling, profile leveling, and cross-sectioning. Emphasis will be placed on field practices such as handling leveling instruments (e.g., dumpy level, automatic level, digital level), recording field data, performing checks, and computing reduced levels using the rise and fall and height of collimation methods.
The course prepares students for real-world applications such as road design, drainage planning, construction, and topographic mapping.
